You can't say I don't make life interesting for myself..

Yesterday, due to confusion between LinkedIn, which has photos of people if they so choose, personal email, and masculine names for women, I was surprised that the Scottie I met for lunch turned out to be a woman! She's a Randy-Mac alumna, 15 years older, so it turned out well. We may meet again, and she may try to help me in my job search.
I don't remember the last time I felt so weak. I woke up feeling like I could throw up. I had wanted to go to the ball yoga class but decided to go back to sleep. Set my alarm because the community org person was going to stop by because I said I could donate craft supplies to the Children's museum. Had a nice long conversation with a Randy Mac friend, and though my stomach felt better, was still terribly weak, so slept for 3 hours. Didn't want to sleep too long and totally throw off my schedule.
I started using Facebook again a little. I like to update my status with random things sometimes. Chat is nice for a wider "audience," those who don't have Gmail.

Male ballet

Talk about gender-bending!

I saw this tonight http://www.trockadero.org , and luckily, our seats in the far right balcony were still good (better than back of the orchestra) because it's a small theater.
Let me tell you, it is too weird to see a package under a yellow tutu.

Frederick, MD

Another trip to DC, and what have I learned?
1. Def need a GPS
2. I like the store Filene's Basement
3. I'm not sure I want to live in DC area.. maybe I'm fine with Richmond for now while figuring out what kind of career I want!

I bought some brown corduroy pants at store mentioned above. I feel generally thin compared to college days on the terrible med but those pants showed me oh-so-well that I could afford to try jogging once a week and sit-ups, esp now that spring is approaching.
I went for a bike ride last saturday, and it was so pleasant. I felt optimistic about this spring.

Curious finding (stalking?) hehe

So I might have a date soon, which I'm really happy about. I'm a curious person and looked at the guy's Fbook page again and.... well, we have the same birthday! Is that not weird? Exactly 4 yrs apart. I suddenly thought, "That makes sense" in that he seemed somewhat introverted like me, that we have similar personalities. But then I thought, 'Maybe this isn't good." I know in Western astrology, they say certain signs are compatible. I don't believe in Chinese/Vietnamese zodiac, that people of the same birth year aren't compatible. Hm.. I think Donna would say I'm overthinking this. I'm amused, at any rate.

Friend's 25th

Tonight I went to a house party-- been a while! It was pretty fun but I felt a little more "forced" than my Monday night off this week when I met the hottie. There was Mexican food and two little dogs, a black poodle and a miniature Terrier, both in sweaters, running around. I didn't know a lot of people there (it was a joint bday party with guy I didn't know). I was amused when the cute guy from the YMCA showed up. He's married (and Republican). I talked to a Macedonian guy near the end who was funny. Speaking of the Catholic church, he said about the boys, "That's why they're there, to be touched!" I know, not PC AT all.
The tiramisu gelato I brought was popular. I forgot my friend is lactose-intolerant, but she had a bite. The cake was not cut (I cut it) until much later.
I was invited to go dancing (not at a club but a bar) and thought about it, but forget to google map directions from the person's house to downtown. I decided to stick to one place for the night, that it wouldn't be enough time. But I danced there. It started when this goofy-looking, long-faced guy said he would "pop lock and drop it." Next came Soulja boy's "Superman," which I enjoy. I heard/saw it in China almost 2 years ago. I felt a little sad that I haven't been to more fun house parties in that time. Then came the electric slide but not enough room. I decided to dance when they played the "Macarena." We even did a congo around the house with macarenas! I learned the song "Skanky leg." I was going to take video of it but a woman was dancing it in front of me. I have to say, the two of them dancing of it looked pretty hot, lol.
As for what I drank, I had tequila/grenadine punch (a bit sweet), a shot of patron (the lime was stuck in my teeth for a while), and some sparkling wine at the end. I thought I could come home and "study" (career books) like I said I would do Monday night, following cute LSAT guy's lead, but both then and now, feel too tired/unmotivated. I better tomorrow before work!
I went for a long bike ride today. Only two more days then I go to DC! Haven't lined up other biz contacts but may meet a HS friend. THere is a job fair the following week on my day off.

Crushing

Well, I'm flattered my coworker was going to set me up with someone as cute as her boyfriend's friend. He is cute. I'm a sucker for warm brown eyes that draw you in. Guess he's 27 or so. I think she thought to set us up because we've both taught abroad and are good at languages. Don't know if coworker had mentioned me to him, but he asked if I spoke 7 languages.
My god, he's cute. (Not in a cocky way). Actually, I'm not sure our personalities are the best match; he may be too introverted for me. But anyway, I really liked him. He's studying for the LSAT, which he takes in a month. We had good conversations, and I stood close to him while waiting to order another glass of vino verde at the bar. I felt like he wasn't as into me as I wanted him to be, but he did hug me when he said goodbye. This night makes me more hopeful: the realization I can connect with guys given the opportunity. I will have a nice boyfriend someday. Can't believe I turn 25 in 4 mo!

Networking

My connections are growing on LinkedIn.. up to 80. I want around 150.
I arranged to meet with a recruiter. His profile said he works for my dad's bank but then he replied with another work email, so I think he's a contractor. Since I'm available during lunch, we will meet next week. It's a little scary. I realize I'm a little afraid of men.. I've been connecting to women because they're less intimidating! Need to get over this.
Meanwhile, I need to print another business card because I don't like my current one. The design isn't professional, and my friend who ordered them decided to change a bit of the wording; English isn't her first lang.
I had my first translation call last night. It was a Belgian guy whose luggage had been lost. He told me the story for about 7 min, and then I asked my colleague (in other dept) what she needed. I'll know to cut to the point in the future because she needed to know first of all whether he was covered, for her to help him. It was refreshing to speak French with a European versus a Canadian. I spoke to a (married) American guy Saturday, who was probably a tool but sounded hot. Sometimes the combination of sounding like they're right at the receiver (I don't mean heavy breathing) and a nice masculine voice is just mmm. That sounds so wrong, lol.
