The Happy Hour I organized was good. I had watermelon and pomegranate cosmos. I ordered ceviche, which I confused with paella, I guess. It arrived and was not at all filling. Two girls got pizza and offered me some, which I took one up on on a slice. They want to have a weekly happy hour, maybe at a wine bar. Because of meeting with them, I now have plans this weekend: brunch Sat (which I've been wanting to do) and a 4th of July party with Brits!
I was surprised to get a call from from Nadal-looking guy from salsa just now. (I thought last night how he looks like Nadal, then I saw the end of a Wimbledon match today that Nadal won). He apologized how he acted last night, dancing and then saying we should sit down. He was very tired. Anyway, he didn't need to apologize. I kind-of get a weird vibe from this guy. I'm thinking, "Why am I initially attracted to guys who are similar to me (and therefore not compatible)?: It was strange to be called by a guy again; hopefully more of that will happen by guys I like in the not so distant future. Ok, I've procrastinated on iview prep too long!
I'm not sure my blog will be full of life lessons, and I don't write often, but it's a decent title for someone in transition figuring things out. A 20-something adventure :)

I shall believe
That song by Sheryl Crow has been in my head.
You gotta love Randy Mac alums' willingness to help out fellow alums. I feel other colleges/ universities may be the same way but a smaller college's like ours more so. That being said the Career Network on RC's website sucks. You can't search by city, just state. I had to browse through all the VA listings to find alums in Norfolk (which I had never done before, as I just recently considered a career there).
I must prepare for the interview but am procrastinating. Last night I was looking up other companies and people to contact to maximize my trip there and started to get anxious and a headache. Then I went over to my neighbors' (they're on vacation, and my sis was watching TV there) to pet their dog to help calm me down! I didn't want to get ready to go nor drive downtown to go to salsa but I forced myself. The guy I mentioned a week ago was there but I didn't enjoy his company as much, partly because I wasn't as talkative. I didn't dance as much, either.
I organized a Happy hour for the first time for tonight. Think I'll limit myself to one drink.
Didn't feel like getting up to go to Zumba today. It's really cool outside, should go for a bike ride or walk.
Yesterday a funny coworker got mad at me (not really directly) because I helped cause her to lose information (it's a common problem at work, faulty comp program). It's her fault she didn't save often. I vented this. She joked that Jesus (her name for me, since I look so biblical) stuck a knife up her ass! I'm also called Jesus (with Spanish pronunciation) and Gandhi. Well, at least we have camaraderie. My Phillipino coworker who is a hoot said in her funny voice (I think it's partly on purpose), "Who wants cookies?" Then, "This is goooood." (You have to be there) The last 2 months I enjoyed working with those two, they lighten things up. Before I left, they got a laugh over my spelling. I was in a rush and in my notes, spelled Philadelphia wrong. Also a restaurant "Buddhakan," I spelled "Buttakan."

First for everything
hehe.. I accidentally dropped a bottle of wine in the grocery store. (perfectly sober) It was only $8.99, not too big a mess. They gave me another to replace it.
I spent a lot of money the last few days on beauty things. One has to consider it an investment though. I got the Clarisonic face and body massager to remove impurities.

DC visit with Shanghainese
I'm tired but wanted to write how cool it is that I was at the White House when Russian President Medvedev and his caravan went by! And they went to a burger place! Gotta love it.
The top story on BBC right now is a photo of him and Obama at said burger joint.

Salsa
Last night I went salsa dancing for the first time in over 5 weeks, I think. I'm glad I did! I talked to a young, cute Hispanic guy most of the time. I thought I heard him say he was "35," to which I repeated it incredulously. I told him I was 24 then 25, forgetting that changed over a month ago. I enjoyed talking with him but he was a little strange. That being said, I feel he's somewhat similar to me! Not so confident. But definitely smiley and in good humor, which is attractive. He said he works 4 days a week at 6:30am. Ow! And that before we left at 12:30, he had to make flan to bring to work. He didn't have to but he'd been putting it off. It takes 2.5 hours. I definitely wouldn't have done it. So after this event, I realized... I need to be around more men! I like talking to them and shouldn't be interested in someone just because he's amiable, youthful, and cute.
I'm grateful right now I'm still living at home but I really hate the drive back from downtown. It's either that occasionally or every day to work. Next week I'll be dogsitting for my friend. Will have to pay 70 cents or more a day in tolls. I hate friggin' tolls. The dog is cute but he better not try to run away on me!

Starbuck's
Had to buy a gift card to use WiFi here. Before I knew that, figured Sbuck's ambiance was better. I like the background music. "Funky funky" and "Hit the road, Jack."
Gonna watch World Cup today since I'm off.
Am going to DC 2mor.

Mis compadres
Yesterday my favorite coworker wrote me, "Lady Linsey, how are you?" Then "you're royalty, aren't you? haha."
After a big event at work where I wished him a good evening despite the circumstances, he wrote, "You my lady,
Remember this. There is always a bright star and a positive aspect or silver lining in every circumstance. Strive to look for the positive in everything and zoom on it."
I'm glad I have him as a coworker.

I have 2 new freckles on my forehead. The appearance of new freckles is weird.

Loni Love
I saw Loni Love at the local comedy club last night (went for the first time). I enjoyed it but didn't laugh a whole lot.
I'm amused my Indian friend from high school wrote me "Hai." Wasn't sure if she meant "hey" or "hi."
I went to my grandparents' today, who I hadn't seen since Christmas. They had wanted to see me. I predicted I wouldn't have anything to say because not much positive/ exciting has been going on, and I wasn't in the highest spirits. My grandma said, "C'mon, Lins, you've had an exciting life, you've got to give us something" to which I just smiled. Being on the porch, sitting on chairs that I've sat on for 10+ years at family events, I remembered what history I have there and felt nostalgic, because when I feel things are bleak, I forget all the great things from the past.
Am going to a going-away party tonight. I should soak it up because it's prob one of few summer parties I'll go to.
An American friend in China wrote me, "Remember, the most important thing about getting what you want is to believe that it is possible now." Those are good words of advice.
I don't have plans tomorrow, which is problematic for me. I'm grateful I've had both Mother and Father's day off. I got a 50cent book at a consignment store today I can give my dad. I want to say we have it but I can give to someone else in that event.

Post-grad
Sitting at my sister's graduation as I heard speeches about moving on to a new chapter in one's life, la dee da, I thought, "How pertinent," as I close a chapter on this job. I laughed during the ceremony when chorale singers would rush at the mike for their part when switching places. One guy pretty much shoved the guy before him out of the way. Then my sis said she thought something was wrong with him. Oops.
This evening, I started to think, "Maybe I should wait til I hear if I can work part-time (5 days from now). This is because, I turned in 2 apps today but now that I'm more "clear-headed," it seems a bit foolish to give notice when I don't have something lined up. I don't know when I will have something concrete. Hilton said they'd call Mon or Tues but didn't. Don't think I'd like the positions they offered or working at a hotel, anyway.

Sister's graduation today
I'm glad my sis registered at the local community college. She's thinking of applying to Hot Topic and a photo studio. It's unfortunate she doesn't have a car.
I'm wrestling with a lot of thoughts right now. I have regrets that I know I should in a way sweep under the rug right now to help move on. I'm relieved I'm quitting my job but am again facing the unknown, which I last felt before my bday when I changed to day shift and had a quarter-life crisis. It's just amazing how I lost perspective with this job. I forgot all the great experiences I've had in my life and almost discounted (?) them, only focusing on the present and thinking the future was bleak.
I went to hatha yoga last night but I got anxious, knowing that we are to focus on breathing, and I am a shallow breather. That, and I didn't like the background music as much. I liked it when it was instrumental Chinese.

New leaf
I bought a watermelon today :).
Getting a pimple and have a networking social tomor; oh well.
Agh, I don't have much to write at the moment. Want to job search a little and vege before going out tonight for dinner, to see an apt, and French meet-up.

Thank god for Tums
That sounds like the start to a TMI post. I'm a wimp when it comes to pain so when I get stomach cramps, I feel I could die. Then I get annoyed that eating out can produce that result; being social often involves a meal out. I don't want to be hungry and think, "This is great, socializing with friends" then get these terrible cramps. So Tums is great.
